This upgrade offers the corrosion protection of 440C stainless steel. 440C stainless steel balls and races provide long life and superior corrosion resistance in applications and environments that may be less than ideal. 440C has the highest strength, hardness, and wear resistance of all the standard 440-series stainless alloys with high carbon content. The bearing is also a much better fit with the factory cup. Your factory headset crown race will need to be changed to our 45-degree crown race. Our split crown race (included) will make changeout a cinch.Update: the crown race now has an integrated seal.
