I purchased this plus the 40mm NBK for a DHX2 equipped Capra MkII. There was a significant improvement in how smooth the compressions were on the bike after replacing both bushings with the needle bearings. The bike felt so much smoother through all of its travel. Chris was also helpful in discussing whether or not to get a NBK for both ends of the shock, but seeing wear on the through bolts I decided to replace both and very happy I did.
I have ordered assorted bearings, fork service parts and tools from RWC. Every product I have ordered I have been immensely satisfied with. The needle bearing/spacer kit is great to cut friction slightly over the crappy plastic bushing in Fox shocks. anodized spacers add a bit of bling over the factory plastic stuff. Bearing tools are top notch machined and work perfectly at a slightly less price than others. I'm only about 4 hrs away in Southern NM so all my orders are dispatched within sometimes minutes of order and arrive in a couple days. i wiil continue to order from RWC for all the above listed reasons. Keep up the good work.
Been buying RWC bushings for years because of the quality. much better than the cheap Amazon ones. I had a shipping error( my bad) and Chris at RWC was super quick on making it right. Solid company.
My wife's new bike has a RockShox Super Deluxe with reeeeeally tight eyelet. They were so tight that the pin was pivoting in the frame, instead of the shock pivoting on the pin. Neither RS nor Fox hardware allowed it to rotate. Before resorting to trying to ream the eyelet I gave the bearing kit a try, and that worked an absolute charm. The shock is now pivoting on the pin as it should, and the rear suspension is a little bit more active as a nice bonus.
The kit itself is nice. The spacer seals run on the faces of the bearing's out race, so they don't touch or wear on the shock at all
Santa Cruz recommends using a lower eyelet bearing with VPP to help improve small bump sensitivity. When getting a new shock that doesn't have a bearing built in the lower eyelet specifically for Santa Cruz bikes, it's nice to be able to grab a shock off of the shelf and add your own. Big bonus points for being able to easily swap coil springs unlike other bearings that require tools to uninstall the bearing just to swap a spring out. Comes with multiple pins of different thicknesses to get tolerance between the bearings and sleeve as tight as possible to prevent play. This lower bearing kit has been my go-to with every Santa Cruz bike I've owned over the past 6 years... worth the money.
The bearing removed the harshness from the rear shock. I ride a lot of rocky singletrack and the ride was harsh and rear wheel would deflect off sharp edged rocks. Adding the bearing made a significant improvement in suspension performance on trails like that. It made less of a difference on smooth single track, but still worth doing IMHO.
Awesome beating. The initial stroke feels as though I am running on air cushion. Very sensitive. Ultimately, most of us are doing this to cure the knocking sound from the Fox roller bearing. It certainly fixed that issue.
Tools to do the work ended up being more expensive than the bearing, but it made it so easy to install. Before I know it it was done. On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of of difficulty to install, it was literally a 1 using the tool from RWC.
Multiple sleeves separates this from competitors; if you service your own Fox shock, the RWC needle bearing makes it so much easier than buying the expensive tool to remove the Fox bearings or the DIY bolt/hammer approach.
I purchased this needle bearing kit for my Yamaha Moro 07 full suspension EMTB. I installed it on my rear shock and man what a great improvement it has made over the stock setup. You won't find a better suspension mod for under $50 and I highly recommend you get you one!
Another thing is Real World Cyling is an amazing company that really takes great care of their customers. The post office ended up losing my order in transit. I went through the whole process with USPS making a claim blah blah blah. RWC was unaware of the problem so when they emailed me several weeks after I ordered asking me to review the order I just reached out to them and explained the situation that I never ended up receiving the product and that I couldn't review it due to me neve getting the needle bearing kit. Surprising
to me Chris immediately told me that he was shipping out another kit and if I ever did receive the other order to just send it back to them! I did not expect them to do that since it really wasn't their fault the USPS lost the package. The new package arrived a few days later and USPS never found the old one. Having such outstanding customer service and really caring about me and my order made me a lifetime customer and really shows what a great company RWC is. Thank you!
